In 2010 we were commissioned by a yacht building company to create a Mosaic Tile design (glass mosaic) that represents the identity or symbol (seahorse) of the yacht.
The material and design
We have proposed glass mosaics for this project because this design will be applied to the wall in the master bathroom of the 27-meter-long motor yacht and for this reason lightweight material comes into question. The original seahorse pictures were sent to us by the yacht building company. Before we start to create the mosaic image, we always make a drawing for the best conversion of the image to mosaic image. On such a drawing are all kinds of notes about the colors and details that simplify the creation of the mosaic.
2 Cm x 2 cm Glass Mosaics
The glass mosaic is 4 mm thick and each has a size of 2 Cm x 2 Cm. It would also be possible to create this Mosaic Tile Design project from 1 Cm x1 Cm mosaics. Since the design is not so complex we have chosen 2 Cm x 2 Cm mosaics. Mosaics with a larger surface are used so that they find a greater opportunity to adhere to the mosaic adhesive. In this case, it must also be remembered that during the start of the yacht engine a large vibration occurs, which plays a major role in the mosaic size.
We would like to introduce you a Retro Mosaic Tile design project that we created about 10 years ago, for a living room wall in a villa in Cyprus. The end result was just beautiful! Partially shiny Mosaic Tiles, which made themselves visible from matte colored mosaics. And that in a style from the 60’s. But how does such a process go? How long did such a custom made Mosaic Tile design project take?
Planning and design
The design, i.e. the shape and colors, that was used in this project is actually one from the 60’s. We didn’t really add anything great, that was the customer’s request. We just sat down together to find the best colors that could be used in this project. It is very important to find tiles that are also well suited for the mosaic process. For this we, as Art Studio, selected the colors according to the gloss and matte and prepared for our client, a part as a demonstration model mosaic. The goal of this preliminary process is to show our clients how the final visual result will look like.
mosaic crafts skills
Each custom Mosaic Tile design project prefers different skills that played a very big role in the final result. Since such a project is made with pure handwork, it is also our main task to show our clients where there might appear visual differences during the implementation. For this reason, it is important for us to show our clients the final result that will follow through the implementation. This way we can plan changes at the very beginning.
The time needed for the design and production of such a Mosaic Tile Design (Wall) is about 0.5 m2 / day. In other words, it took us about 3 weeks to set up such a project. The application takes less time, about 1 day for gluing to the wall and 1 day for grouting.
Smooth application Process
Through our experience we have accumulated over 150 Mosaic Tile Design projects in the last 20 years, will help execute a smooth Mosaic application process. Just imagine that the large wall mosaic is divided into numbered pieces and can be easily applied to any wall by your local tiler. The end result is irreplaceable as this mosaic project has turned into a handmade piece of art on your wall.
A cool mural on the bathroom wall? Is that actually possible? The question here is rather, why should that not be possible! It’s just cool to bring together different decorative elements from art history. Especially in places in your home where it is not expected. You can already assume that your guests will be amazed in the house because a bathroom decorated in street art style is not often seen.
In this project we sat down at the table with our client and closed our eyes, as we usually do with our clients who want to add something to their house walls that didn’t exist before. It’s a great bathroom in a beautiful loft with with a large blank wall directly across from the shower. Since the shower itself was separated with a large glass wall, you were looking directly at that wall while you showered. The idea came from our client that it could be exciting to be watched by a mural. They then decided on a picture which we then transferred in color to the wall.
Street art in bathroom
Of course, street art is not meant for bathroom walls but we wanted to bring the visual effect of spray paint on the concrete wall into the interior in this case the bathroom. And in order for this mural to really look street art style visually, we used, on the already existing concrete wall, the stencil art technique.
Since 2014, we create upscale wall murals that serve the interior design and give the spaces a new atmosphere. The final result of a wall mural in the interior is always exciting because we create them with the stencil art technique.
Why Stencil Art
There are only positive facts about creating wall murals with the stencil art technique. First of all, there will be no bad surprises on your wall (colors, shapes and size) because in advance the whole visual is designed on the computer and sent to you and the Stencil Layers will be processed only after your consent. So it is quite clear where what should be painted. The best thing about it is that wall murals that are created with the stencil art technique can be implemented very quickly.
Interior and Exterior Applications
Applications can take place on different walls in your home, bistro, restaurant, club but also in a yacht. Of course, it can also be painted on furniture e.g. on large cabinet doors or on any door. Since a wall mural is very light in weight, it can be applied to all kinds of wall surfaces.
The Wall Mural Design Process
The mainstay of the wall mural design process is that we first prepare the stencil layers in our art studio in Jesteburg. The size does not matter. Depending on your wishes, either our artist can paint the stencil on your wall or you can also commission a painter who has already gained experience with stencil art layers. However, our recommendation is that the second step is continued by our artist.
Which mural for my wall?
With us, you have a wide choice in terms of which or what could look good for a mural on your wall. It does not matter where in the house, restaurant or yacht this wall is located. Just send us an e-mail regarding your idea. For this we also need the dimensions of your wall and of course a photo of your wall would be very helpful. Then we can of course start with the wall design and schedule a video call to discuss the details.
Mural Design with spray paint or wall paint?
The choice of whether to design the mural on your wall with spray paints or wall paints depends on your taste. Spray paints give the mural a street art look because the paint from the spray can creates certain effects by spraying. Wall paints, on the other hand, have rather straight and clean color separations and look calmer from a visual point of view.

Graffiti has been around since the Stone Age. People want to express themselves freely. Street art has evolved a lot since then and nowadays dominates the art world on the streets and sometimes even in galleries. Together we will dive into the world of street art to see what other possibilities there are besides the classic spray can to do street art works quickly and efficiently. We discover different street artists from Shoreditch and Brick Lane in London and their way to their own artistic identity. We create street art in their style and with their production techniques and also talk about the difference between art and vandalism. Space Invaders as mosaic paintings, stencil art with stencils, poster art with homemade paste and tagging: street art without spray paint is much more creative!
The use of stencils is a widely used technique in the street art scene. The method is fast and efficient, and the artwork is reproducible. Learn the abc of stencil art: You will design a Multi Layer Stencil made of letters by the British street artist Ben Eine as well as a Double Color Stencil with a detail from a Michelangelo painting.
This course is primarily about getting to know techniques of well-known street artists such as Banksy and to be able to try them out yourself – quite legally. We will deal with space invaders made of ceramic mosaic tiles, poster sticker art and stencil art. The course instructor Ayhan Keser, artist and connoisseur of the scene, will give you a lot of background knowledge about StreetArt in addition to the practical instruction.

Marble Mosaics are recognized as an indispensable material in Mosaic Tile design. Due to its easy shaping, natural colors and historical antique texture, it is used very frequently in custom made mosaic tile design projects.
Color and Texture
Marble mosaics are formed in a completely natural environment. For this reason, their colors are also 100% natural. Strong red, yellow or cobalt or similar artificial colors are hard to find in the marble mosaic segment. However, we can use a wonderful green and its shades, flesh colors similar to red, in your marble mosaic design project. In addition to all these, we can add wonderful color transitions to your mosaic design project with wonderful white and brown tones.
During the mosaic design phase, it is important to remember that there are different types of marble and you should choose the one that best suits your project in terms of visual richness and technical aspects.
Glass mosaic is a beautiful material for interior and exterior use and through a custom design process can become a powerful wall, floor and swimming pool decoration element created in our art studio. Glass mosaics can be found today in almost all sizes and shades. They can also be easily attached to your wall, floor or swimming pool. But it will be even more interesting if you decide to create a pattern or a mural of your choice in our art studio from these glass mosaics.
Which glass mosaic is more suitable for my project?
There are many types of glass mosaics on the market with which we could create your mosaic tile design for your wall. The most used glass mosaics are Vitreous Glass Mosaics and Stained Glass Mosaics. Mosaic tile designs made of glass mosaics can also be grouped into 3 types in terms of design. This would be the pixel mosaic tile design and the traditional hand-cut mosaic tile design and that is created with a mosaic nipper.
The last two also divide into 2 and-that is once with gradients and once with no gradients. Pixel mosaic tile design and traditional hand-cut mosaic tile design have great differences in the production process and therefore in the time required for the creation of one square meter of mosaic tile design.
You can also imagine for yourself that it also leads to a big difference in price. Also the installation of the finished mosaic tile design has differences as pixel mosaic tile design are mostly about 30 cm by 30 cm in size. In short, at the very beginning of your mosaic tile design project you need to think well about what you want to see on your wall or floor.
Mosaic tile design is a cool thing as far as the house, restaurant, bar, bistro or swimming pool decoration, is concerned. It is a world where you can cut out wall tiles and floor tiles according to your design. The cut tiles are then glued to a net and numbered well packed and thus ready for use. You have the option to have different tiles with different colors cut into a whole new geometric pattern.
After deciding together on a design or pattern, we start cutting and shaping the tiles in our studio according to the design. We then glue these tiles on a net and number them so that they can be easily applied by a tiler. Different tiles can be used for your project. For technical reasons it is important to use floor tiles for floor Mosaic tile design and wall tiles for wall tile design.
shapes for your Mosaic Tile Pattern
The most used geometric shapes in Mosaic tile design are Triangle, Square and Rectangle. These are cut by machine with manually operated Tile-Cut. But since we are an art studio and can invest a lot of time in your project, we also cut all kinds of Circles with pure handwork, which we then also include in the pattern, creating a visual difference between machine work and handwork.
Mosaic tile Applications
With the right tile selection designed Tile designs, can then be applied by a tiler, in different locations in your home, in a restaurant, bar or yacht. With the right tile selection designed Tile designs, can then be applied by a tiler, in different locations in your home, in a restaurant, bar or yacht. Here are some examples from our experience:
How big can my Mosaic Tile project be?
It depends only on your imagination. We are happy to inform you that we can create your project in any size. We have gained a lot of experience in the production of large size Mosaic tile design. We attach great importance to the fact that the final result must be perfect from the visual and technical point of view.
Your project is special
As you could also see on this page, you can create cool and so to speak “unique mosaic tile art wall” with tiles. For us, first of all, it is important that we find together with you the best color and shape for your wall. Everything else you can leave to our art studio hands.
We have developed well in the 20 years, in terms of large wall mosaic designs. The good thing is that you don’t have to be surprised how your wall mosaic created in our art studio will look like, because before you place the order with us, you will receive computer made renders. Accordingly, our customers will receive photos and video recordings made in our studio so that you can also follow along.
Size does not matter
We are able to transform all types of images into a more sophisticated mosaic picture. The size does not matter. But it is still natural that some details are lost during the mosaic design. All this we settle together before we start with pure handwork to create your mosaic.
Large mosaic pictures are made in our art studio as one whole piece, no matter how big it is. After that, it is cut into smaller pieces and numbered so that it can be easily installed by a tiler nowadays.
Choose your style
Of course, before we get started in the studio creating your Mosaic Tile design, you will have the opportunity to choose your style. Deciding the style of Tile Mosaic for your wall or floor, sometimes has to be made through technical challenges, but sometimes just for looks. Here are some examples that have a huge impact on the visual and sustainability:
Floor Mosaic Tile Design installation that decorates a villa in Cyprus. The original artwork is located in the Ancient Art Museum on the island of Cyprus. The mosaic in the picture was created with tiles in the same style as a thousand years ago, so that it looks similar to the original. Cyprus, 2005.
What is the selection of different techniques in Mosaic Tile Design based on?
The joint width
The joint depth
The joint color
The type of tile
The size and height of the tiles
The size of the glass mosaics
Mosaic Tile techniques.
The Wall Tile designs don’t make much difference in terms of sustainability and the technique used to create your mosaic image. Swimming pools, floors and facades are much more affected and for this reason must be created according to some technical rules. In short, Mosaic Tile designs that are intended for an area that is under water or different weather conditions or that is to be installed on the floor with a lot of pedestrian traffic must be created with great care and different Mosaic Tile techniques.
